Cryptocurrency payments have various benefits compared to traditional fiat payments. Besides those advantages, an obvious downside resides in the use of cryptic addresses, which are hard to remember and even harder to keep track of. This fact makes a broader adoption of cryptocurrencies slow and impractical. Fortunately, Stellar Lumen provides a so-called Federation Protocol, which allows linking human-readable names with cryptic account IDs. It even makes it possible to use an email as the address for your Stellar account (e.g. e.xample@gmail.com*zendi.org).
This mechanism tremendously increases the usability of the Stellar Lumen network. The only information you need to know from the recipient is its email address. But what happens if the receiving party does not have an account in the Stellar network?
Introducing Zėndi
The lack of usability and missing user experience are reasons why we are introducing Zėndi, a joyful way to exchange Lumens.
Zėndi provides Stellar Lumen accounts to everyone who has a working email address. It even allows people to exchange Lumens between emails, whereas accounts are created automatically if the email of the recipient not yet linked to an account.
The idea behind Zėndi is to be as simple and minimalistic as possible. You don't even need a password. Every authentication is done in a passwordless manner.
Zėndi as a Service
Due to the fact that value can be exchanged between emails combined with automatic account-creation, Zėndi will also act as a platform, providing services to third-party applications. A set of services will be used by developers in order to easily pay or receive Lumens (e.g. in mobile games). This enables a variety of innovative ideas to be realized on top of Zėndi without traditional payment overhead.
