edChain is a decentralized network for learning and careers. It will be released with a large educational library of free courses.
Mission: Democratize education by providing access to quality education around the world.
Product: edChain utilizes Stellar for payments. IPFS is used for storage and peer-to-peer connectivity, providing access to educational material, even without a broadband internet connection. It is a trustless open-source network so that educators can contribute material freely with complete attribution and ownership rights, and developers can contribute to technology enhancements. Early emphasis is on building a self-sustaining ecosystem for learners, educators and developers.
Team: The edChain founding team and advisers have in excess of 300 years of experience in education, in addition to expertise in technology and scaling startups. Team members have run Byte Academy since 2014, a technology school known for its FinTech and blockchain programs. Managing multiple campuses and communities around the world, the team realized the need for a universal library of educational content in order to effectively deliver outcomes-based education.
Partnerships: edChain will be launching with partners already serving millions of users in its global network.
