SBC 7: chances if outside preferred paths

Hello, I have a project that should add (I believe !) value on Stellar ecosystem but it fits neither in path 1 (existing open sources projects), nor in path 2 (4 "cornerstone" projects).

So my question is : such a project, outside path 1 and 2 has zero chance to be among the winners ?
If it has some chances, I'd like to understand the jury's bias towards path 1 or 2 projects vs others outside those guidelines.

I guess I found the answer from StellarZac reply elsewhere:
"We are strongly encouraging people build within those guidelines. But, we don't want to automatically disqualify something that can grow/benefit the ecosystem."

But still unsure, it is better to wait for SBC 8th and another guidelines (will they change ?) or go for 7th right now ?

@ilrico yes, this is the best what you can do. No one knows what will be the guidelines for SBC8 but most probably very similar to the one for SBC7
