Title: AirHug

Summary: Mobile app and Chrome Extension, that allows to send lumen donations instead of 'like' in social network in just one click.

Goals

Charities take on commission fees from transactions. These commissions could be spent to solve global problems, not to serve the acquiring. So the first goal is to lower the charity commissions.
Commonly user have to follow 5 steps when donating in the internet:
1.find the bank card
2.fill all banking account data to special inputs
3.get sms-code
4.post it to the web-page
5.wait for response

The long user story prevents many users from donating and creating an unpleasant image of charity. The second goal is to make donation a “one-click” process and increase the amount of philantropists.

Timeline

Second quarter of 2020 - publication of Chrome Extension to the browser store. Supported social networks: YouTube, Vk, Facebook.
Third quarter of 2020 - widen the social network list: Instagram, Medium added. We are also going to release an Airhug widget, that would be easily integrated to personal web pages.
Fourth quarter: mobile app release.

Description

We integrate a small hag icon under the content of users in popular social networks. Every user can set the donation amount in the app and send it to other users or charity by clicking the hug icon. If you are a content-maker, you can choose a charity and all money, that you get from your followers, will go directly to the chosen charity. We are going to provide an opportunity to make one-click donation in all popular social networks: YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Vkontakte etc. Currently only Vkontakte is integrated.

Each user registered in the application receives his account in the stellar network. User can transfer, deposit or withdraw money, - simple client functions. Though, we try to make it more interactive and give routine transactions much more sense.

For now, we are developing the Chrome Extension, that would be available through Chrome store. In the next year we are going to release the cross-platform mobile app, that would have the same functionality, but instead of “icon” integration to the social network apps we provide an opportunity to share the content link via Airhug mobile app. When sharing, the mobile app would parse the link and detect the counteragent of the transaction.

We want to lower the threshold for users to enter the application and the stellar network in particular. The only problem now is that we create an account in the stellar mainnet for each new user who registers through the application. This is disadvantageous for us, since the cost of one registration is at least 1 lumen. In this regard, we would not be able to support the application in long perspective. Therefore, all funds raised go to the creation of new accounts and app maintenance.

I think that a clean & simple interface for donating through Stellar is indeed something we need - so that's the kind of projects I want to support. I'll criticize a few elements of your design, though.

Browser extensions are inherently insecure, as they let you access arbitrary data from user navigation and modify webpages as you will. For this reason, I think that they don't have their place in the cryptocurrency environment (and yes, I've heard about Metamask). I consider that devs first duty is to promote habits that keep users on the safe side & proposing browser extensions goes against it.

More generally I think that having to install something to give money is something that users won't easily do. I'd advise to strip out the proprietary/user jailing stuff to the bare minimum so entry goes smooth.

You can get the same effect of installing an application, without the implied friction, by using Progressive Web Applications. Those are web apps that get installed in browser cache the first time you visit a website. You can then use normal string queries to handle donations - in the same fashion than what is done on Lumenthropy.com.

You can leverage protocols like CosmicLinks and SEP-0007 to have people donate from their own wallets, rather than having to create & fund a new dedicated account.

I think your project is in an early enough phase to reconsider those points, and I believe it could greatly impact your success.

Totally agree with you. You are right in that users need to be accustomed to security, but most people are willing to give up security at the expense of convenience and comfort. I believe that the global development plan of any blockchain / project / business should popularize the product and gain an audience in the first place, and then educate the rules of behavior in it. If we immediately create many barriers and force an inexperienced user to dive into the technical details or unfriendly interface, then user will exactly lose motivation.

It seems to me that at first it is reasonable to attract an audience with a simple interface, so that the user learns the product gradually, and then develop a security culture in it. The problem of the entire industry is that it is mainly technical, and users need it simply, without complex addresses and interfaces.

In addition, the process of wallet creation is quite difficult in terms of user flow. One of the Airhug’s duty is to attract as many users as possible. So there is why the account creation logic is encapsulated.

Still, such an application is intended for micropayments and the client’s risk of losing a large amount of money tends to zero. However, you are right, I still need to pay more attention to the issue of security, but the entire project is aimed at reducing the user flow, and not at making secure payments. I will definitely look at all the links that you gave and carefully study your suggestions. Thank you so much!)

I do agree with you, but that's much easier said than done,.... For example, I need an application like AirHug for rewarding content on a social network I am planning to develop based on a Stellar token I created.

In order to be "solidly" secure and "banking grade" acceptable, I do need to KYC/AML verify my members (since they should be able to buy/redeem my token for USD), have them sign up (and again "authorize" them) and have them create a Stellar wallet that will be integrated in their page so they can start rewarding content, receive rewards for their content and receive rewards for viewing/sharing ads. This whole process is secure, but quite "inconvenient", generally speaking .... From here on now, we will be dwelling in "dilemma land"... If I slack on security, no bank will work with me, therefore the convenience of cashing in the earned tokens is gone,... If I make it more convenient to sign up/reward/receive, I'm back to square one at slacking on security.... It's a vicious circle man,...

Personally I think that security is paramount and "educating" your customers towards understanding that a bit of inconvenience is a small price to pay for security should be the key.
