Hi there, I've read a lot of posts that some people got XLM from just signing in somewhere with FB or some other ways. Because I'm new with Stellar can someone tell me the history of all these giveaways and are they still valid. Thanks and such a nice community site :v:

I know that years ago Stellar gave lumens to people who simply set up an account. As well as that, just last week I got an email giving away 500 lumens if you connected your Facebook account to your stellar account. So it's still going but you need to keep an eye out for giveaways.

Is creating a pair here https://www.stellar.org/account-viewer/#!/ the same as creating an account?

They commented about this. I think they are just running out of Lumens. The number of users is increasing and it's hard to keep up for them.
