you need special hardware to mine efficiently and that hardware is very expensive. Additionally, you electricity costs are often more or the same as your earnings and even if you earn a bit, you still have to cover the hardware expenses. After that all you earn (after deducting electricity) if profit. But that will happen after a few years and the difficulty is going up.

I'm not buying hardware, I'm simply using the hardware I already have to mine while I'm not using my computer.

pc hardware is not really optimized for mining, if you don't have to pay for electricity and want to get some coins for free, then sure you can do it. But otherwise you will pay more for electricity than you will mine.

Mining is profitable right when new coins launch. I made around 1 btc mining zec during its launch weekend.

Will keep that in mind . Well according to everyone here mining isn't too profitable, so I'll just wait till I get my first payout then get out. Thanks guys!

Oh yes ZEC. I made 20 BTC in the first 20min mining, bunch of AWS machines. The price was crazy!

Mining is profitable if you have yet your cpu and gpu and when you mine undervalued crypto and at the beginning of a new crypto unlisted on marketplaces

My advice would be to find a currency that is can be hashed using GPU computational power AND also not available in ASIC (think specialized hardware designed to hash a certain algorithm and super good at it) Ex. Bitcoins double SHA. Ethereum is still ASIC free and GPU based...so are many others. Research x 5.

mine bitcoin still worth it. with anything of expensive cost that needed. it something that need to plans.
