SBC - Trading bot questions

I already started working on a trading bot for the next SBC but have a couple of questions that are important to define the scope of the initial project and the first and most important is if the bot will be used for all exchanges like Poloniex, Bitfinex, Binance, Kraken or tailored only for use in SDEX with our own Stellar wallet.

If we go all exchanges available then handling sensitive information like secret keys would be a vital point while if we use our own Stellar account then there is nothing to worry about, the user will be in total control of their own keys.

The second question (related to the first one) would be if we would allow trading all cryptocurrencies or only all assets on SDEX since the first option would be useless for Stellar, while focusing on SDEX would give us more exposure but at the same time would limit the appeal due to low liquidity.

Right now I'll try to focus on SDEX only and widen the scope as we progress down the road.

Who else is interested in building a trading bot?

If we listen to the Stellar Network (SDEX only) then there is nothing to get from other exchanges. If we listen to all exchanges (all cryptos) then that's another beast and we should provide streams from Poloniex, Bitfinex, Binance, etc. which is not hard at all but what does that have to do with Stellar? They don't trade our assets, unless we want to trade XLM for other cryptos but then that has nothing to do with SDEX or the Network. That's my main confusion.

Torkus They are talking about "A Trade Bot Maker". It should not just be a trading bot, instead it should allow everyone to create trading bots on the SDEX.

I imagine an interface where I say: If the price on Kraken between BTC and ETH falls under a threshold compared to the SDEX make this trade. For this kind of rules you will need data feeds about prices from non-SDEX exchanges. In this case you are not trading on outside exchanges, you are just using the price data to make informed decisions.

I'm thinking of a rule system, but I'm sure there are other ways to make trading bots.

Yeah that is exactly what I thought as well. I am also building a bot but I am not entirely sure how they want it to be used... Just having it run on SDEX does not seem worth the effort... and then we have to go open-source on it as well. Doesn't feel like a good deal to me.

Fair enough. I was thinking on porting Gekko to Stellar SDEX which has all the known strategies (MACD, DEMA, PPO, RSI, etc) and allow users to tweak the parameters and create their own strategies. But still I am not convinced about the convenience for Stellar, so I may consider working on the social platform instead. Still laying the foundations for both the bots and the social aspect may prove valuable for an exchange so I may end up implementing them all in the future. Thanks for the feedback.

So in other words a platform for users to create bots on... how are you suppose to have the users bots run without their secret key? And you need to have all the bots created by users to run on your server? The project must be open source and probably free too?
