Summary: Engage the Sacramento community, including families, in a fun scavenger hunt. The hunt will involve finding clues and sending Lumens to QR codes
Goals: Engage the crypto and non-crypto community in a fun activity that involves sending XLM peer-to-peer. This will demystify crypto and encourage adoption.
Description: Scavenger Hunt teams will begin by downloading and getting acquainted with simple veteran wallets like Lobstr and BlockEQ. They will then be sent a few Lumens that will be used throughout the hunt. Contestants will find clues (QR Codes) and send them Lumens. The Scavenger Hunt organizers will use live Stellar.org blockchain data to determine who came in which place. While a noobie-friendly guide will instruct users how to prepare for the Hunt, Stellar veterans can use any wallet they choose. Contestants will have fun, learn about the speed of Stellar, and become acquainted with blockchain technology.
Link: A first version of this event occurred in Reykjavik, Iceland, in coordination with Lobstr and the Icelandic Blockchain Foundation. We learned several lessons including de-emphasize blockchain in the marketing material and encourage families with young children to participate. Below are some links proving this event happened. I am now prepared to grow this event in a larger city (where I have roots)!
