Hi, sorry new to this forum, didn't know you replied. I have a version
9.0. are you saying I should export when in old wallet and then import when in new wallet I'm new to these terminologies. Is this same as restoring? Thanks

bkolobara Hi sorry didn't know you had replied already. I have a version 9.0, wallet is Stargazer, got it in 2018. Does Stargazer have different wallets?

Sandysings19 There are currently some issues with sending xlm in Stargazer.

I would recommend you to install a new wallet on the new phone, like https://solarwallet.io/ and when you are creating an account select the option "Import Existing". There you enter your secret key, starting with an S. Make sure to never share this key with anyone.

To access this secret key on your old wallet you should open Stargazer and click on this button in the upper right corner. Then select "Advanced" -> "Export Account". Now you should be able to see the long key starting with an S. If you double click it you could copy it and send ti to yourself on the new phone.

    Hope this helps.

bkolobara I will give this a try, I'll let you know the results. Thank you so very much. Sandysings19

bkolobara Hi there, well I got as far as trying to copy the private key, but it was a QR code and not a series of no starting with an S, So I scanned it but it said invalid key code. Back to square one, any more suggestions??

Sandysings19 Is your wallet password protected? For me the private key is displayed under the QR code, but maybe it's not shown in password protected wallets. I would suggest you to remove the password and try again.

bkolobara Hi there again, when you asked is your password protected do u mean in the orig wallet Stargazer? If so, can I remove password from there and it won't screw up anything for the wallet that got transferred to new phone, while I'm creating the new wallet you suggested, Solar, so do I just scan QR code? This is confusing to me, new at all this. Thanks

Sandysings19 Yeah. I ment the original wallet.

I don't think that you can just scan it as they probably use different qr formats. Solar will just accept a private key, not Stargazer's qr code.

Also, some users succeeded in sending with Stargazer again. Maybe try again to send it to the new wallet.

Yeah, so I removed password. But yes now I'm going back to the Stargazer wallet that was originally transferred over from the old phone and I'm able to scan the QR code that is on my stargazer wallet (on new phone) so scanning and everything looks.like.ots.going to work, plug in my amount I want to receive and scan them I get mesg. That says "Reciepient account isn't registered Send a min. Of one xlm to activate it". Which I have already done. Because it gave me that same message when I originally try to export my ex XLMs.

bkolobara Hi, oh and also when I do try to send a min of 1 or more xlm the send button is highlighted in blue, I hit it and nothing happens. We can't send attachment s here can we? Lol

                Sandysings19

bkolobara where it says export acct. From orig wallet where it says is my private key, starts with an S, should I plug in that key into the Solar wallet when creating that wallet? Sorry if this sounds confusing.

bkolobara I just realized that my private key in my wallet on my old phone is different than the private key in my wallet on my new phone, both are Stargazer of course, it this normal? Both start with an S, but completely dif. So if I plug in that private key from wallet in new phone it will only transfer funds currently in that wallet correct, it won't transfer the funds in original wallet on old phone, am I right?

Sandysings19 Basically, your private key is your wallet. If you move it to a new phone you are actually not doing a transaction, you are moving the whole wallet. But solar allows you to have mutiple account so you can import both Stargazers.

Maybe you also have mutiple Stargazer accounts on your phone and that's why it asked you to send again the minimal amount. You should be able to switch between this accounts in your wallet and check their current amounts.

bkolobara ok, I understand it better now about the private key is my wallet, thank you! And no I do not have separate accounts only one and then I transferred that private key when I went through the procedure on the new phone and then when I was following through with transfering the funds, they didn't transfer for some reason it said I needed to send one xlm to activate the account on the new phone, which I didn't understand that. None of my other wallets ask me to do anything like that they just automatically transferred over, all I had to do was sign in and plug in my password or PIN code. Now I can easily transfer the xlm I have in my Stargazer wallet to the solar wallet because the private key starts with an S on that phone but funny it starts with a G in the Stargazer wallet on my old phone, which if what you are saying is true then the private key should be the same key from Stargazer on new phone to Stargazer wallet on old phone correct? But it is not the same. Old starts with G and new starts with S. Does any of this make sense to you? I certainly appreciate all your help whatever your name is, thank you so much. Any more suggestions. I have a lot of xlm on my old phone otherwise I probably would just give up.

                    25 days later

bkolobara Hi again, I am still having problems with retrieving my xlm from old phone and I reread your reply an explanation. You had said that my private key is my wallet so I'm not transferring anything but am moving the whole wallet, yes and that is what seem to have happened. When I tried to send my XLM from old phone to new phone it said I had to activate the account to new phone with 1 xlm before I could transfer the rest over. Do u see my confusion? this would appear to me that I have a different account but how could that be I don't know of any other account. Do you think reactivating my old phone temporarily and trying to send the rest of my XLM over would help if the phone was activated again or would that not make a difference? And why are my private keys different from wallet on old phone to wallet on new phone I never changed my private key??
Thank you I would appreciate any help you can give.
                    Blessings.

Sandysings19 I'm going to write down some basic explanations of Stellar terminology. Maybe it helps you in resolving the issues.

                      Account

An account consists of 2 two parts:

                      1. Private key - Starts with a S...
                      2. Public key - Starts with a G...

Each private key has a corresponding public key. If you know the S... key you can always generate the G... key. If you enter on this website: https://www.stellar.org/account-viewer/#!/ the S... key it will show you the corresponding G... key.
But if you know the G... key you can't generate the S... one.

In Stellar an account hold your XLM balance. If you know the public key (G...) you can send funds TO this wallet. You can safely share this key with people that you would like to receive xlm from.
The private key (S...) allows you to send funds FROM your wallet. Everyone knowing about ti can send XLM out of your wallet. That's why it's really important to never shear this key with anyone.

Each account must hold at least 1 XLM. If you try to send less than 1 XLM to an empty account your software should warn you that you can't do this. In your case you were told that the account is not "activated". So each account that has more than 1 XLM is already activated and doesn't need to be "re-activated".

                      Wallets

Wallets are apps (Stargazer, Solar, ...) that helps you to work with your accounts. Wallets usually let you manage multiple accounts. If you download a new wallet it will often create an empty account for you automatically, but to transfer any XLM to it you need to transfer more than 1 (for reasons mentioned earlier).

I think that in your case you have 3 wallets (a,b,c) and multiple accounts (*) with different amounts of XLM:

                      1. Old phone:
                        a: Stargazer:
                        • Old account (? XLM)
                      2. New phone:
                        b: Solar (? XLM)
                        c: Stargazer new
                        • New account (1 XLM?)

Notice that you also can have the same account in 2 wallets if you import your private key. In this case, If you send XLM out of any of the phones it will automatically be reflected in the balance on the other phone.

You don't need to use any wallet app. If you store your private key (S...) securely you can always access your funds through this website: https://www.stellar.org/account-viewer/#!/ and send them to anyone.

Try to write down all the private keys you have on a paper and check on the above website how much of your XLM each account contains.

                        2 months later

bkolobara Thank you so very much, it's alittle confusing but I will go on the website and see what I can find 😊 out. Another thing is when I was trying to send my xlm from old phone to new phone it was still saying that account (my new phone, stargazer wallet) needed to be registered and I have 39 xlm in it, so don't understand.

I went on site, but I do not know where my secret key is on the old phone, and shouldnt it be the same as on my new phone? Anyway where would I find secret key in this wallet(stargazer)?

bkolobara Yes that makes sense, only problem is I have not been able to transfer my XLMs from old phone on the new phone. When I went to restore it told me recipient acct not registered, see d a min amount of 1 xlm. I did that and I still haven't been able to transfer funds to new phone, since month of May now. I took screen shot but don't know how to send attachment on here. Thank you.

bkolobara thank you but I'm not sure how to do that, LOL. I am so handicaped with uploading, I would have to sign in to that site right? To get right down to the specific problem is: every time Im in the last step to send the funds, it constantly tells me account not registered must send a minimum of one xlm. Now with the Solar wallet, I tried scanning the QR code and putting in the private key from stellar wallet after hitting import existing, continues to read invalid stellar key, something like that?? Does it matter that at the top of the wallet in solar wallet that is, it says acct 2, because I have to go into account 2 to find the option for importing existing, (this is exhausting) 😩 if I don't My options are send or receive, whick by the way I've already tried that too.
