Today I tested two other wallets: Stellar Desktop Client and Stargazer. I had previously tested Centaurus and Stargazer on my Android, but this time I decided to test Stargazer on the desktop and provide a few more details about this wallet. Stellar Desktop Client This wallet is available for download on Windows, Mac and Linux. It allows the user to create an account with the secret key, create a new empty account or open an existing one that was saved on the computer as a file. Very similar to Stellar Term , Stellar Desktop Client wallet also has trade markets, where the user can buy or sell Lumens in exchange for other currencies: This wallet provides the user’s balance, assets (XLM, EUR) and trust limits. It also has the options to send assets directly to other accounts, trust anchors and shows the latest payments and transactions. Some advantages about this wallet must be mentioned. First of all, not only it’s a trading client such as Stellar Term, but it also permits the user to send assets to other users, what Stellar Term doesn’t have. Second advantage is that it already gives a list of a few known anchors to create a trust line with, different than Ecliptic for example. Stellar Term has a few more popular exchange market options (with anchors), but doesn’t offer much advantage compared to Stellar Desktop Client. Lastly, I think is relevant to mention that this wallet has the option to deposit or withdraw funds. This option is not provided by other wallets that I tested so far, and it’s really interesting for users who want to send money directly to bank accounts, either for personal ones, relatives that live abroad, friends. Unfortunately it’s still limited only to Chinese yuan (CNY) asset, so it can only be withdrawn on Banks in China or using Alipay . Still, this is a great option, and I hope soon it can be transferred in more assets and to more countries. Stargazer The download process of Stargazer on the Desktop is really simple. It already opens an empty account that requires minimum of 20 XLM to activate it. However, it’s relevant to notice that it doesn’t allow the user to send money to other accounts if it just has 20 XLM on the account, because it needs to have always some amount. This is a rule for most, if not all the wallets, and it’s tricky if the user wants to delete the account and recover this Lumens, as he/she can’t send everything and leave the account empty. Stargazer has the options to create a federated name to the account, add anchors to create trust lines, export the account with a QR Code provided and set an inflation destination. The problem of the QR Code instead of the secret key to export the account is that it’s complicated to copy and transfer it. To receive assets the user also has to provide either the QR Code for scanning, the public address shown under it or the federated name. As I explained in a previous article , the federated name probably won’t be recognized as a valid destination address if the sender has an account in a wallet that doesn’t support federated names. Lastly, it has many language options, different than Stellar Desktop Client that only offers English and Chinese as languages. This is a benefit aspect considering that wallet users and potential users come from diverse countries.

ScottLathwood With Stargazer you can export the QR code of the account seed and print it out or just back up the whole app folder. I think that Stellar Desktop Client lets you choose a filename where it keeps the secret key. So you back up this file.

Stargazer doesn't clearly prompt or guide user with seed as the Stellar Desktop Client does. How do I generate this seed fr Stargazer? Stumped on this

Hello, I did a transaction to Poloniex and i didn't put the memo id, i used the full adress and i lost my stellar. I wrote to the exchange and they need the TX HASH. I don't find this info in the wallet, is it there or i have to accept that i loose my stellar lumens? Thanks.

AllioliLove You can go here: https://stellarchain.io/ enter your public key and see all TX HASHs for all of your transactions. I forgot to enter multiple times the memo when sending to Poloniex and always got my Lumens in the end.

Do i need fill in the ,,Memo‘‘ when i want to send my Stellar Coins to Binance to Exchange them? If yes what for example?
Or just the wallet adress and the amount?

aldan You do need a memo when you send to any exchange! Binance should show you the exact value you need to put there. Both address and memo are important to receive your funds.
Send small amount first to make sure you receive it.

OrbitLens sorry to keep coming back to you but you are the only person who has been able to shed some light on where my lumens were sent! I have found the transaction, the hash, and you are able to see the lumens within that account. I have also seen Lumens moved out of that account in the exact amounts that they were deposited, so it is possible that they can be sent back? I cannot get into contact with anyone at NAOBTC? Do I need to just keep waiting? Any other information you have would be helpful.

Because in Binance i can fill in the Memo and also click at ,,No Memo'' and just type my Wallet Adress.

If you are sending to Stargazer you don't need the memo. Only the address.

Hello,
Would you know if exporting my stargazer account and importing it into a stellar desktop wallet would result in all the xlm I have being available in the desktop wallet or would 20 xlm remain unavailable due to stargazer keeping that to have that wallet remain activated?

I was trying to export the stargazer QR, but I'm not sure how to scan the QR with the built-in scanner on stargazer and then import that into the desktop wallet when setting up my account there. I can see the dots, just not quite connecting them.

Update:
I managed to get the qr for the stargazer decoded and am trying to figure out what actually is the key that I use that will be imported into the desktop wallet. I tried a couple, but the desktop says "secret key is invalid".

I wish it was as simple as clicking on the qr code in stargazer which would copy it to the clipboard and then pasting it into the import key box in desktop that would have a built-in reader/decoder and then click create account, thus importing my stargazer account and be good to go to set up the inflation destination which is why I went down this path of trying to switch over to the desktop wallet. I see that that can be done in stargazer, but decided I wanted to switch over to desktop.

Yes, I realize now it would have been easier if I had started with the desktop version. Or just send all but 20 xlm from stargazer wallet to desktop wallet, but I was hoping the export/import would be a way to have it all move to one place.

Final update:
I searched on the stellar subreddit about exporting stargazer and found that since I had it password protected the qr I decoded was an encrypted version. So, I shut off the password protection, did a decode of that qr code, and that resulted in yielding the secret key that I could then use for importing that stargazer account into the desktop wallet. And it worked.

lumenation Hope you can help me. I have the stargazer app and I forgot my password that I set. I've tried a few usual ones but it does not work. I wanted to export my Lumen from app to desktop app. Is there anyway I can do this or reset my password? I can still get into the account but I can't send to another wallet without password

SeanDillard Ok guys, I figured out why. The way Steallar operates, the exchanges use one wallet, so the memo is like my sub which tells them who to credit the XLM too. Duh

If I close it without having password protection it stays off, so you have to turn it on again before closing it if you want it to be password protected. I just shut it off in order to get an unencrypted secret key in order to import my stargazer wallet into a stellar desktop wallet.

Hello. I'm little confused with withdraw to Stargater wallet from Bittrex. I placed withdraw two times and it says it will be processed immediately but my Stargater wallet is empty.
It says I should send 20 XLM to activate it.
Can you please tell me do you have an experience with withdraw to this wallet?

AnaSe When you generate the bittrex address for the first time, bittrex gives you your memo id so they know who you are. I'm in the works of moving a small amount XLM from and back into bittrex to make sure the transfers work for me. The memo is txt, so depositing to bittrex or polo, you need to choose memo txt.
