Hey!

The year 2018 has started great for everyone in Stellar community. The first months of 2018 have been very productive for LOBSTR as well!
Below are the highlights of our recent updates and some insights into the upcoming features.

Security Improvements

The most important security update is the support for Two Factor Authentication which has been rolled out to our web, Android and iOS apps.
Over 5,000 users have already activated it, and recently we released the updates which allow to protect every outgoing transaction with 2FA confirmation. We encourage you to enable 2FA as well!
Other security updates include better logging of all security related events, secure process for revealing the private key, email alerts about new IP address, and others.

Decreased account reserve (down to 1 XLM from 20 XLM)

As you know, all Stellar accounts must maintain a minimum balance of lumens, which has been decreased to 1 XLM recently.
We released a Merge Tool which provides you an option to withdraw the last 1 XLM without any restrictions to any Stellar address of your choice!

Instant Stellar account activation with 1 XLM credit for new LOBSTR users

To make your new Stellar account activated, you need to have at least 1XLM on it.
LOBSTR now provides you 1 XLM credit to activate your Stellar account upon creation, so you’ll have live account instantly. Read more about 1 XLM credit

Customer Support

We are trying to improve our support services all the time. During the last few months we increased the support team, to make response time as short as we can.
Also, we made some good progress filling in the LOBSTR knowledge base.

LOBSTR mobile apps

Significant part of our community are using LOBSTR mobile Android and iOS apps. That’s why we constantly improve them, adding new features, fixes and polishing interface. Make sure you use the latest versions which support QR codes (they are on the web wallet as well), 2FA, Fingerprint and Face ID for iPhone X.
Please read this article if you are interested why our iOS app is not available on AppStore.

Usability and design improvements

User-friendly design is a key point which separates LOBSTR from other Stellar wallets.
We have collected tons of feedback from our users and have improved the UX of the application to make the app simple and easy to use. We understand that design is a time-sensitive thing, which should be frequently updated. That’s why we revised different parts of the wallet already and are planning other design updates.

Upcoming updates

We’ve got some more exciting things in the pipeline.

  • Support for sending money to any email address is around the corner - we will write a separate announcement about this.

  • We plan to roll out support for Stellar based assets in Q1!

Seems really nice ?
I do wonder from where you will be funding 1XLM balance to account.
I have a similar situation (https://galactictalk.org/d/1012-introducing-pedity-asset) but I am stuck in the dilemma of providing free XLM for account activation. Would really like to know you view as you might be able to give me a solution.

Pedity We provide them as a temporary "credit" to help new users get started from our own funds.
However, to make it sustainable long-term we will re-claim credits from unused accounts, and we ask active users to return the credits after they receive their own lumens. Seems to be working good so far for us.

pitsevich How will you reclaim credits ? Do you keep their private key (I feel that will be wrong)
Because returning of credits is not guarantee.

        Pedity
        - When generating the key pair, we also generate the TX that will merge the wallet back to our funder wallet.
        - If people start using their wallet - we delete the merge TX; otherwise - we submit it to the network.
        - Until the credit is paid off, we don't show the private key of the wallet.

pitsevich can you tell me how long it takes support to reply? My acct is saying my 2a is wrong, but it's not. Also it's saying my key phrase is wrong but it's not. It's doing this when I'm trying to change my password. I only tried changing it cuz 2a was not letting me log in to begin with.

Afvet333 For 90% of tickets the response time is below 24 hours.
As far as I know, your request has been resolved.

Regarding "support for Stellar based assets" - will Lobstr only support pre-selected assets?

i.e. if a new asset is created, can the users setup their own trust, or will the asset creator need to work with Lobstr to add the asset?

pitsevich Does LOBSTR support multisig? I’m currently looking into wallets that can support StellarGuard (https://stellarguard.me/supported-wallets) or could potentially add support for it in the future.

There are a few possible routes for integration:

            1. if LOBSTR has its own multisig coordinator (some api to listen for signing requests) then I could add support for that myself.

            2. If you don’t have a coordinator, there is an API to submit requests directly to StellarGuard. Let me know if you would want to go this route and I can give you more details. There is a JS SDK for reference or use here: https://github.com/stellarguard/stellarguard-js-sdk

Looking forward to exploring possible integrations!
