  • Galactic Talk content creators challenge

Sounds like a fun project! I'll reserve this spot to post my "Scalability Shootout" video where I will compare Stellar Lumens to NEM (proof of importance), directed acylic graphs, and traditional proof of work/proof of stake coins. The review will focus on security, transaction speed, and ease of use, as well as recommendations for future versions of the web wallet. I feel 2FA and Multisig support in the GUI are a must to ensure even if the private key is compromised there is another layer of protection before a new wallet can be created and funds withdrawn.

Excellent ideas and very generous prizes ?
Hopefully we see many good posts as I'm personally tired of speculators and coin beggars who fill most of the content of other forums ?

What's a "thread", and who gets the reward? Just the original post, and the original poster?
What if it's the replies, the discussion, that make the thread great?

A thread is a discussion/topic. I just didn't want users posting in this thread. But the rules are not that strict, we are also going to consider replays.

The user that wrote the content will get the reward. If multiple users contribute to the topic the reward can be distributed between them.

      a month later

Only 10 days left. Still enough time to participate and get 10.000 XLM (~120 USD right now).

      You're currently a very generous man ?

I have the following remarks and questions:
      1) XLM Price is always going to be a roller coaster. If you're thinking to have this challenge periodically, it's better to fix the prizes in USD value.
For example: You can have first prize equal to 2000 USD paid in Lumens at the exchange price of distribution date. And same time, you have to put a maximum limit of prize in Lumens as XLM price might suddenly crash to epsilon then you will have to pay millions of Lumens ?
By fixing the prizes value, the challenge would always have fair reward for all winners.
      2) I hope SDF will support this initiative and similar ones so challenge will continue. Their build challenge rewards is the best way.
      3) When Stellar sign up program resumes, we should see more users in forums as many will come to ask questions.

      And my questions are:
Who will decide the winners of this challenge? Is it the admin alone?
If 15th May comes and quality threads are not present, are you going to extend the dates of competition? I'm not sure if we have a 800 000 XLM thread at the moment but still 10 days left ?

This is the first experimental run of many competitions to come on GalacticTalk. I'm aware of some of the issues regarding price movements. I also had the idea to give away Tempo EUR/USD in the next competitions. It's more stable and anyone can exchange it directly for XLM on the network. So we stay in the stellar spirit and embrace the technology.

To answer your questions. Yes, I will choose the winners this time. And I will also take the freedom to break up the price between interesting discussions if there is no clear winner or extend it for a few more days if there are not enough participants.

Hold up - let me get this straight - that's not 800 000 as in eight hundred thousand right? It's just 800 XLM? Or are the prizes actually 800 000 XLM, 100 000 XLM and 10 000 XLM. Because if that's the case you are a seriously awesome dude.

          Why Stellar?

In order of importance, people tend to think that financial access comes after things like education and healthcare, but financial access is actually a pre-condition for everything else. One big problem in the financial infrastructure today is that it’s terribly expensive to move money from one country to another, and Stellar can remove these costs. Stellar can help people receive or spend or save money, which helps them also pay for their education and healthcare.

What’s has been the biggest challenge for Stellar?

Stellar is technical back-end infrastructure for the world, and very few people in the nonprofit, government, or even tech world understand this level of technology – it’s hard to explain to someone how the internet works, and that’s just the starting point for understanding Stellar’s technology.

We are Asian. However, we are very interested in the practical issues and improvements of cryptocurency. From March 2017, I and my friend had a discussion about Stellar's future. My friend had a premonition and was very confident about Stellar, while looking at the look of Stellar. My friend, I see how intense that faith. At that time, he and I were betting that stellar se. However, the results are we are very excited, as we have won in Stellar belief, as well as our investment strategy in Stellar. Receiving daily news about Stellar showed us that what we decided was right. Thanks Stellar.

Great initiative. This triggered me to actually subscribe here! ? Will be adding threads soon, first diving into what knowledge would be truly helpful from a rookie perspective.

          Hi repear7,
You just copy-pasted this post from Tobias' website. This will not qualify for the competition. It has to be original content.

The competition started when Lumens were worth much less. For example 10 000 XLM was around $15, but now it's around $400. Like you, many other participants just copy content from all over the web to participate. I'm thinking now of adjusting the prices (all) and breaking them up in multiple competitions. They are still going to provide a lot of value, but we also hope to get much more quality content in the future.
