Weekly Update 4

Hello.
Welcome to my week 4 update. I will continue these updates while Sparked Wave continues to grow and I add any other features requested. I will be switching my focus to advertising in the coming weeks.

Updates/Bug Fixes

  • Fixed minor bug of the displayed text for cart empty message.
  • Forced https on whole site.

Three New Stellar Projects
Three new projects have been added to Sparked Wave. One is a Stellar based project while the other two are more down to earth.

Fund Distribution Explained

I’d like to explain the current system of payment distribution in a bit more detail. As stated previously 95% of payments currently go to a campaign's fund while 5% is redistributed amongst other projects. The idea behind this “all for one and one for all” funding system is to allow for the Sparked Wave community to benefit from each other’s success. It is my hope that this will encourage a sense of camaraderie amongst the Sparked Wave community.

Thank you for your support and for using Sparked Wave. I look forward to seeing what the future brings. If anyone wants to contact me you can use the contact form or send an email to contact@sparkedwave.com

Weekly Update 5

Hello, I am pleased to announce this week’s update and it’s a big one. This update is a bit earlier than usual since I’m keen to show off the newly completed UI system I have been working on. The whole site has been redesigned to give a more streamlined user experience as well as to look sleek and polished.

I have compressed different pages, information and explanations into a more user friendly site while adding a whole host of new features in what is the site’s first major update.

New Features

  • Graphics update to header, footer and overall colour scheme.
  • New UI of website focused on cutting down menu items and pages from eight to five and changing the overall site look to be more user friendly.
  • User submitted dream and update forms changed to be more user friendly to allow for a faster and easier user experience.
  • Social media, sharing and other useful options have been included on all dreams or project pages.
    • Social media links (facebook, twitter, linkedin).
• Sharing options (facebook messenger, email).
    • Other user options (copy dream or project URL, google bookmark).

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed minor bugs related to incorrect text/graphics display.
  • Fixed email notification issue that was preventing users from receiving a confirmation on submissions.

Future Plans

  • A single new complete video tutorial uploaded to explain how to use all features of the site (support a dream, submit a dream, update a dream) (coming shortly).
  • In the future I plan or combining the account viewer and user submitted dream and project updates into my own version of a social media platform. A simple way to communicate, share and post content amongst the community would be excellent when combined with crowdfunding. It will take sometime to do this so my weekly updates may no longer be weekly. I will in the meantime however continue to inform the Galactic talk community of any purposeful updates to sparkedwave.com that occur.

Thank you

This was a rather large update this week so I hope the new look and functionality of the site appeals to everyone.
Thank you all for your suggestions and enthusiasm. It means a lot and has helped me make Sparked Wave all the more better for it.

So thank you once again and pleasant dreaming.

Nice! You've been busy I see, i will go take a look, good to know that bugs and issues get dealt with from the get go. I will be doing some work on my sparked dream this week as soon as I've completed the 1st phase of my SBC project.

Thanks for the ideas they are both great and I’ll give them some thought.

I’m trying to find the balance between keeping the site as simple as possible for those new to Stellar and utilising it's true potential. That is why at the moment I have gone down the conventional funding path that people are familiar with for other crowdfunding platforms.

  • People donate to Sparked Wave’s Stellar address.
  • Each donation gets confirmed then appears as a pledge on the dream or project they donated to.
  • At the end of the campaign I send the XLM raised from the Sparked Wave address to the address the dream or project manager provided at the time of submission.

This way it is super simple for people since all they have to do is have a Stellar address and at the end of their campaign the XLM will be sent to their account without them having to do a thing.

That being said I do think having a multi-signature address per campaign does seem like the best way to go in the future. It seems like a good security solution for everyone, plus I think it won’t be too hard for people once they get a general idea of how Stellar works.

When I have more users and the on site social network is set up I plan to let the community hold sway over how the site develops and this would be one of the first topics I’d get opinions on.

Thanks a lot to both of you. Your input as always is excellent.

Thank you for the mention @chris.

I just found a nice article about Sparked Wave from a few days ago on GoStellar,

GoStellar is a website that seeks to centralize all the news related to Stellar and is a fellow SBC participant.

Go check the Article out and have a look at what Chris is trying to accomplish for the Stellar community.

BlockMaster that makes sense. I'm gonna think about this.

Sparked-Wave I will let you do your thing, that is why it caught my eye, I don't want to start sploshing your work of art ?

Any plans for an advanced mode in the future keep this version easy to understand?

      BlockMaster thought about it.
What if each token represented a % of the dream.
So if someone sponsored 10% of the cost of realizing a dream, he would get 10 dream tokens.
In the case of my dream the ticket to the moon is expensive so it would give major donors the ability to express how they wish to contribute by applying their sponsor lumens to a specific part of dream which they support or have expertize in.

Finally, with a 1 to 1 ratio between:
      1-Dream tokens issued
      and
      2-Lumens requested

We could distribute the tokens proportionally to all sponsors.
Each token would be recorded in the blockchain of donations for this specific dream. it would ease and secure requests for refund and each sponsor could track their dream dollars.

They would connected to the dream, part of it.

I am just having fun dreaming about your dream machine

but nothing prevents me from implementing this on my site

I like the idea, business and what you trying to achieve here. I think the layout and design and message needs to be clearer. Happy to help Im big fan of Stellar

An advanced mode is a brilliant idea for the future. I hadn’t considered that. It would still allow for the site to be simple but I could include it for more knowledgeable users. Excellent suggestion. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on what features could be included in this advanced mode as well as working out how best to implement them.

Thank you for your support. Any insights you wish to share are always welcome and I look forward to hearing your thoughts as I continue to develop Sparked Wave. I’m interested in how you picture the message and overall site design on sparkedwave.com becoming clearer for users.

          10 days later

Will Do! a bit busy right now just started working on an fascinating contract crypto related hw/sw and possibility to join in my project. I will make some time no problem.

I will propose a desing that will be managed by my platform.

We could try and embed a widget on my dream page that I could develop remotely ? It would be simpler than fiddling in a window as the dream owner when logged in and you having to convert text I would enter as web code (like does embedded jsfiddle. But it is up to you.

I will get back to you ASAP cheers!

            Update 6

I have finished the social media platform feature of Sparked Wave.

This blends the old account viewer into a new profile page for images, links and messages to be posted on.
A profile image can be set and this page acts like any other profile page members could be familiar with.

The old update dream form is also gone and instead a new chat room is now available for both general discussion and updating dreams and projects.

A new login and registration form is also in play. This form now sends an email with the chosen password to anyone who registers to be helpful for users.

Even though I did not get a prize in the SBC I'd still like to thank everyone who contributed with thoughts, ideas and support up to this point and hope to work with some of you into the future.

            Best wishes to you all.
