BlackMac Hi! Are these kits still available? I would like one. I know the owner of a very busy coffee shop that might want to give this POS a shot. Previously, we've been talking about retro-fitting a regular POS to accept XLM and other altcoins. How much for shipping it to New Jersey in the US? Thanks.

xirkle shipping to the USA is 19,89€ including tracking. Send your Address to stefan at hodldeck.com - it might take a while though, because some of the parts from china did not arrive yet.

The new display arrived and I needed to update the case. It is not perfect yet, but there has been progress and I am 3D-Printing the next version of the case today.

The website has been updated and the kit is now available for preorder!

This is perfect for shops looks fast and effective. You did a lot of research and this will be a great product to introduce Lumens as a way to pay increasing the Stellar Market place. I would advise you connecting with big chains that can support purchases with Lumens. The IT market is a good start like Silicon Valley in USA . Here are some ideas of other places as well.

StellarEconomy I will have to start in Düsseldorf (Germay) where I'm based, after all HODLdeck is just a sideproject. I am very happy if anyone helps promote it somewhere else though. Thank you for the feedback.

BlackMac Well done! I'm glad you're making such great progress. As I've mentioned previously, we're planning to test your product in NYC at one busy coffee shop. I'm eager to see more updates soon!

xirkle we are going to try this in Asia too. Singapore for a start. besides payment, can this be adapted for simple banking? BlackMac

I am looking forward to ship HODLdeck to all of you.

Here is the first prototype of what the kit might look like when it arrives:

          Another Update

All the hardware for the first three kits has arrived from China. While the recipients for the first two kits have already been chosen the last one will be chosen from those who tweet the most compelling reason why I should send them the kit.

Please tag @hodldeck ( https://twitter.com/HODLdeck ) in your tweet and follow, so that I can send you a PM and ask for details.

Oh... and by the way, I ordered a handful of these: RFID

Pretty cool. I have 50 Raspberry Pi Zeros that are just waiting to be used for a project, think I found a use for one lol.

chaynes I was thinking about building a pi zero w version, but it’s too expensive and too overloaded for what I wanted to achieve. But when I realized that the ESP could not handle the ssl cert of the horizon server I was about to give up. I might reconsider also offering a pi version.

              BlackMac

I fully intend on looking into this when I have time. If I make any progress on getting it working on a pi I will absolutely share.

If you ever need bulk pricing let me know, I can probably get you the same deal I got. I use a supplier in China that has been nothing but great to work with.

This is how HODLdeck will work when the RFID capabilitY has been added to the device:

              1. Customer can buy a HODLdeck card in fiat or XLM
              2. Customer buys goods at a shop
              3. Customer touches HODLdeck device with the card (this is the moment new fiat cards become XLM cards)
              4. Done

Alternatively customers can scan cards using the HODLdeck app.

              • Scanned cards require transactions to be confirmed on the phone.
              • Scanned cards can be recharged with a credit card or in participating shops

Customers do not need to understand crypto or stellar, but can still use it and when they use XLM cards they can even speculate with XLM (and hodl ? )

Can it be used to monitor shipping of items, just scanning barcodes or products to track origin. What about adapting it for use as an in-vehicle IOT to scan for parking fee

savebattgo there are better blockchains for supply chain tracking (VeChain) and IoT micropayment (iota, nano). HODLdeck is just meant to make Stellar useable as a currency for in-store payment. The main focus is usability.
